I am passionate about helping companies grow, fund and exit.  It takes an incredible amount of vision, passion, and perseverance to start and grow a company.  I know.  I was an executive at a venture backed startup (CoreMD) and started my own law firm before coming to Mintz.  I bring the same type of passion and energy to my legal work for entrepreneurs, providing creative and insightful advice that helps clients realize their business and professional goals.  In my practice at Mintz, I advise life sciences, tech, digital health, and consumer products companies of all sizes. I guide clients through capital raising transactions, help them make business decisions that drive growth, and represent them in mergers and acquisitions and initial public offerings.

Fun facts:
I love to combine travel and baseball.  I have been to a baseball game in every current Major League Baseball stadium.  The photo I use in this profile was taken during the National Anthem at the 2017 World Baseball Classic.  Later, Scott Van Pelt of ESPN’s SportsCenter used this photo as his Twitter avatar and called me “the Most Patriotic Man in America.”   Next up: College World Series in Omaha.

The most valuable lesson I’ve learned in business is …
Often the best deals you do are the ones you don’t do.

The new technology that will have the greatest impact 10 years from now is …
the mapping of the human genome. In the next 30 years, medicine as we know it today will be completely unrecognizable. Health care will be personalized, and the idea that we bought Advil off the shelf at a store will seem primitive.

What are your favorite blogs and websites?
I’m actually a big fan of podcasts, particularly Reply All, The Daily (by NYT), 99% Invisible ... and, of course, Mintz: From the Edge.

Companies I have helped grow and thrive:

  • Quizlet

  • Turing

  • Energy Recovery

  • Miyoko’s Creamery

  • GradeCam

  • Akoya Biosciences
